DORA Is Here

DORA officially kicked off July 8, 2021. Note the days and times DORA is open:

Thursday: 4:00 - 9:00 PM

Friday: 4:00 - 11 PM

Saturday: 12:00 - 11:00 PM

Sunday: 4:00 - 9:00 PM

So, what is a DORA?

DORA stands for Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area. This is a specific area, spanning several streets, where patrons can purchase alcoholic beverages from participating businesses and then take those drinks outside to enjoy. With a DORA beverage, you can explore Miamisburg, its retail establishments, or enjoy your evening in Riverfront Park. See the map below for the designated area in Miamisburg.

There will be signage that lets you know when you're about to leave the DORA (and therefore cannot take your alcohol any further). So keep your eyes out and you'll be fine.

Do I need a special cup?

Good question! And yes, you do! When you participate in the DORA, businesses will give you a special DORA cup. You are only allowed to drink alcohol purchased from a business if it's labeled in a DORA cup. The specially made DORA cups will have the logo printed right on the cup.

Where can I buy a DORA beverage?

Just look for any of the following businesses showing off this sticker, this means you can purchase a DORA cup here during the days/times DORA is on.

  • Bennett's Publical
  • Good Time Charlie's
  • Bullwinkle's
  • Legion
  • Eagles
  • Ron's Pizza & Ribs
  • Plaza Theater
  • A Taste of Wine
  • Watermark
  • Curious Styles
  • Star City Brewing
  • Lucky Star Brewing
  • TJ Chumps

See map for full details.

How do I know where I can bring my DORA cup?

Easy! First, DORA cups cannot be taken into another liquor serving business. You can look for these stickers on downtown businesses to see if your DORA cup is permitted inside the business or not. Also be on the lookout for these signs, indicating that DORA cups are not permitted on that property.

Here is a list of where DORA is welcome:

  • Baum Opera House
  • Bear Creek Donuts
  • Classic Stitch
  • Dreamy Café

See map for more details.

So, can I bring my own alcohol?

Nope! Any alcohol being consumed outdoors within the DORA needs to be in a DORA cup and purchased from a participating business. The purpose of the DORA is to give you an opportunity to enjoy your drink outside (or inside shops that allow DORA beverages inside), but it's also to help support our local businesses! So let's show them some love by sticking to the rules.

Will the DORA be in effect year-round?

The cool thing about the DORA is that it can be turned on and off. While the DORA is on, it will follow the schedule mentioned earlier. But if we turn it off, for an event, a specific day, or really anytime it's turned off, you will simply need to enjoy your drinks inside one of our many great establishments (or on their patios if they have that option available). If you have questions about if the DORA is on or off, check out MiamisburgDORA.com or any of our friendly downtown businesses.

Do you think DORA is a good idea for Miamisburg?

We do! There are currently over 70 DORAs established throughout Ohio, many in communities just like ours. We've learned from these communities that DORA has been a good thing for them. We trust our residents and we trust our business owners to responsibly follow the rules and ensure the Miamisburg DORA will be a safe and enjoyable way to explore our beautiful downtown.
